If you need screen capture

Here is an interesting discovery I had during my free time at work. Well, it is school hols so usually it will be less busy than in normal school opening. Anyway, do you know there is a difference btw Quickplayer in Windows and Mac OS? Try installing and compare both. Well, the answer is right below:

In Windows, you will not see the full features of Quicktime Player as in Mac OS 10.6.4. In Quicktime windows ver 7.6.9, you will only see Audio Recording only (purchase). Probably you may need screen recording like Snagit Camtasia Studio but well in Mac they have a feature for it under Mac Quicktime player>File>New Screen Recording. Well this might save you from getting a software or serve as an alternative.

Screen recording is a feature whereby it will record what appears in your desktop and it will save it in .mov files in your Macintosh HD under Movies. Anyway, I'm quite new to this too. So have fun experimenting! Here's a tutorial link from mac:

Tamil Fonts

Here is a thing about Fonts. Especially Tamil fonts which I myself could not read and understand. Anyhow, I face with a user who is not able to read the tamil fonts from Ms Word from their PM.

Here's what I know. Usually there will be Tamil software (Eg. Azhagi) but anyhow I myself could not understand how to use it. The simple method to actually deal with Tamil Fonts is knowing what Fonts the PM is using. In this case, the PM is using New Kannan Text.

So for the research staff, they need only get this Kannan Text and installed it in their PC under Control Panel>Fonts. Just copy and paste the download Kannan Text from the Internet to the Fonts and it prompt to install.

Open the Ms Word and it will automatically show the text. Well, it do save a lot of time rather than learning how to use the third party software.

Outlook 2010 Clean Up greyed out

I was archiving my e-mails when I happen to find that my Clean up and Ignore functions in Outlook 2010 is greyed out. Here's some info:

You have to enable your CEM (Cached Exchange Mode) from the Account Settings. I am using a shared PC so I seldom put it on cached mode. I wonder why there is a need to activate that to get the function so I Google for answers and here's what they say:

If your IE cannot open pdf files

I came upon this error with the user that says they cannot open pdf files from the Internet Explorer, which is quite strange since the settings should set to default in this case.

But anyhow just a quick checklist:

- Ensure you have Adobe Reader installed if you do not have Adobe Professional
- Open Adobe>Edit>Preferences>Go to Internet>Ensure "Display PDF in browser" is check.
- Sometimes, it can be your Default Program settings for .pdf files. 

If you got big movie files but can't send it through e-mail, what should you do?

Most e-mail clients (such as Hotmail, Outlook), does not allow attachments that is more than 2MB.  Most camera or video camera comes with High Definition movies which requires big file size.

Anyway, if you need to share with your friends your favorite most touching moments videos, via attachment (e-mail), you can do so by using Windows Movie Maker.

1. Open Windows Movie Maker. 
2. Click on Video and import the movies that you wanted.
3. Drag the movie to the Storyboard line.
4. Click File and Publish Movie. 
5. Select This Computer and click Next.
6. You will be prompt to enter the filename and the file location (destination location) you want for the movie you have selected.
7. Click the option "Compress To" and select 2MB.
8. Click Publish and tadah it is compress an ready to be sent for attachment. 

Ofcourse, there are many third party applications and methods you can compress your files but here is the most easy and available method to use.
